Celebrate East Lyme Festival
A HUGE Success! ! !
If thousands of smiling faces were any measure of success, then the 9th Annual Celebrate East Lyme Festival was a HUGE success.
Despite warm and humid temperatures, a great ocean breeze helped cool the thousands of people who flocked to downtown Niantic on Saturday, July 19th where live music, great food, a classic car display and more than 120 vendors lined Niantic’s Main Street setting the stage for one of the areas nicest town festivals.
The day began at 9:00 am with a Sand Castle building contest where the “Beach Bum” sand castle took 1st place. Then throughout the day live music played and various locations throughout town, St. John's Episcopal Church once again hosted their Annual Summer Carnival and a first ever “Fair Share of Pie Sale” provided awesome pies from locals. Also new this year was the Basket Bonanza by the Bay where local businesses donated gift baskets that people could win by purchasing raffle tickets.
Lastly, and as an end to a great day of fun, one of the CT. Shorelines finest fireworks displays took place over the beautiful Niantic Bay. Kudos go out to all those who helped make this years Celebrate East Lyme the huge success it was, and especially to Heather Caulkins, this year’s event coordinator. Great job Heather!
