    Smith-Harris House - Annual Wreath & Greens Sale and Open-House

    Deck your halls with an assortment of wreaths, swags, centerpieces, and arrangements in live and permanent greens at our annual wreath & greens sale! All proceeds benefit the Friends of Smith-Harris House, for preservation and public programming. Afterwards, visit the Smith-Harris House, where it is 1860, and performer Maggi Prokop Elizabeth Avery Henderson welcoming holiday visitors to her home with refreshments inspired by historic recipes! At noon, join the Montville High School Choir for caroling in the Barn!
    Saturday, December 5th, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
    Admission to the wreath & greens sale is free.
    Admission to the open-house is a non-perishable food item to benefit Care & Share of East Lyme, Inc.

    Niantic / East Lyme Light Parade (Saturday night)

    Celebrating its 27th anniversary in 2015, the Annual East Lyme / Niantic Light Parade is the largest holiday light parade in all of New England, and maybe one of the most unique events you will find anywhere.
    This year's Niantic / East Lyme Light Parade will be held on
        Saturday night December 12th at 6:00 p.m.
    (with a Rain Date of Sunday, December 13th at 5:00 p.m.)

    Niantic Jingle Bell 5k

    Come join the fun at the scenic McCook Point Beach and Park on Saturday, Dec. 12th for a scenic, festive Niantic Jingle Bell 5K walk/run in support of the Brian T. Dagle Memorial Foundation.
    8:45 - Race Day Check-in/Registration
    10:00 - 5K Walk & Run will begin
    11:00 - Overall & Age Group awards

    Smith-Harris House ~ An Evening with the Belsnickel

    Escape the frenzy of holiday preparations and join the Smith-Harris House for an evening of family-friendly festivities! Children of all ages are welcome to make an old-fashioned tree ornament, join musician Judy MacDonald around a cozy fire to sing carols, and meet our kindly Belsnickel! A “Belsnickel,” or “St. Nicholas in fur,” was a German folk tradition that preceded the modern Santa Claus, and our Belsnickel will share a winter’s tale and hand out a treat to each of our young visitors! Afterwards, enjoy a sip of cocoa and gingersnaps.

    9th Annual O'Niantic 5k Run, Walk, Jig or Jog

    Come on! Kick up your heels and shake off those mid-winter blues and join us for the 9th Annual O'Niantic 5K Run, Walk, Jig or Jog. This Niantic, East Lyme event is considered by many a moving party and will take participants through the quaint village of Niantic and its beautiful beachfront. You’ll fall in love with this 5K race and the post race food all charmed with a little o'luck of the Irish.
    So, don’t pay any attention to the thermometer – lace up those shoes and be on the starting line on Saturday, March 19th beginning at 8:30 a.m.
    The run will start and end on Methodist St., Niantic CT.

    Flanders 5k Run and Walk

    Come join the fun at the mid-Spring Flanders 5k Run and Walk. This event will take place on Sunday, April 24th, 2016.
    10:00 am 5K Race (USATF Sanctioned) and Walk
    11:00 am Children’s Races
    11:30 am Awards Ceremony and Raffle
    This run/walk will take place from the East Lyme Aquatic Center (30 Chesterfield Rd, East Lyme, CT) and will start on Boston Post Road, and finish at the East Lyme High School Track.

    Memorial Day & Parade

    The annual East Lyme Memorial Day Parade provides an opportunity for patriotic Americans to come together and honor those who have sacrificed so much in service to our country.
    The parade will be held on Monday, May 30th beginning at 2:00 p.m., will begin near St. John's Green (across from the Children's Museum of Southeastern CT.), and will proceed down Niantic's Main St. ending at the East Lyme Town Hall.
    The parade celebrates all those who have served in uniform from the American Revolution to Operation Iraqi Freedom, and will reflect on those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation.

    38th Annual LobsterFest and
      56th Annual Juried Arts & Craft Show

    Come support the Niantic Lions Club as they once again sponsor their Annual LobsterFest and Chicken BBQ. Lobsterfest 2016 will be held on July 2nd (Saturday from 10:00 am - 5:00 pm) and July 3rd (Sunday from 10:00 am - 4:00 pm). Located on the East Lyme Town Hall grounds (Pennsylvania Ave.), this annual Niantic summer tradition is sure to kick start your summer.

    In addition to the above Niantic Lions LobsterFest and Chicken BBQ, the 56th Annual Juried Arts and Craft Show will also be held at the same location, on the same dates and same times. Admission to the Arts & Crafts show is free, and over 180 vendors are expected to be at the show.

    Celebrate East Lyme 2016

    The 16th Annual Celebrate East Lyme Festival will be held on Saturday, July 16th.
    The Town of East Lyme will once again transform it's waterfront Main Street in the seaside village of Niantic into their annual Bash by the Bay filled with food, music and fun-filled activities for the entire family!
    Niantic's Main St. will close to vehicular traffic (beginning at 3:00 p.m.) which will then be filled by over 200 local vendors offering food from local and regional restaurants, products and services from local businesses and entertainment for everyone!  Festivities include live music performances, cooking demonstrations & tastings, children's areas and so much more!
    Additionally, the East Lyme Parks & Recreation Department will again host a Sand Castle competition and the always popular Great Niantic Bay Raft Races. And last, but not least, the day will conclude with a spectacular fireworks show over the beautiful Niantic Bay.
    Again, the fun takes place on Saturday, July 16th in downtown Niantic.

    Niantic Bay Triathlon

    East Lyme will once again serve as host site for the 2016 Niantic Bay Triathlon. The triathlon will be held on Sunday, August 7th beginning at 07:30 a.m. and features a 1/2 mile swim, 12-mile bike, and a 3.5 mile run through scenic East Lyme with water views and shaded streets. The Niantic Bay Triathlon is a flat, sprint distance race. Come support the athletes, shop for that special gift and dine at one of our many great shoreline restaurants in town.

    Niantic Main Street is happy to once again sponsor their Annual Bargains by the Bay Tent and Sidewalk Sale August 11-14, 2016. This always popular four-day event features a collaborative tent and sidewalk sales by various downtown merchants in the quaint seaside town of Niantic.     Niantic Village Halloween Parade

    Come one, come all, to one of the most highly entertaining events in town ~ the annual Niantic Village Halloween Parade.
    The parade will take place on Sunday, October 30th, 2016 beginning at 1:00 p.m., when children are welcome to browse the downtown shops for "Tricks and Treats".
    Among the parade's signature highlights is the always popular Halloween Parade which will begin at 2:00 p.m.. Children should gather at Hole-in-the-Wall beach parking lot (which is where the parade begins). Candy for the kids and costume prizes will be awarded.
    This event is sponsored by the East Lyme Parks & Rec Dept. along with promotional support of the Niantic Main Street organization and the downtown Niantic local businesses who donate candy and snacks for the children.     Veterans Day Observation

    Come honor and remember our veterans at a Veterans Day Observance on Friday, November 11, 2016. Festivities will begin at 10:00 a.m. on the Liberty Green (downtown Niantic - corner of Main St. and Pennsylvania Ave.). In the event of rain, the vigil will move to the American Legion facility on York Ave.

    13th Annual Holiday Stroll

    Come kick-start your holiday season in Niantic at the 13th Annual Niantic Main Street Holiday Stroll. This family-friendly day features horse-drawn carriage rides, complimentary hot cider and cocoa on the green, a "Snow-Flake Drop" featuring discounts and giveaways at local shops and restaurants, and last, but not least, the arrival of Santa on a shiny red fire truck just in time for a tree lighting ceremony beginning at 5:00 pm on Liberty Green in the heart of Niantic Village.
    The fun takes place on Saturday, November 26th from 3:00 – 7:00 pm.

    Children can bring their yearly letters and wish lists to Santa for bringing back to the North Pole, or they can stop in to the Children's Museum to craft their letter. Visits with Santa are free; parents are encouraged to bring a camera to capture the moment.

    The day also provides a great opportunity to begin your holiday shopping as many of the local businesses will be open offering holiday sales and discounts. So, come early and escape the big box malls and crowed parking lots and help support the small and local merchants who make shopping small ~ BIG! Join us and support small business!
    Volunteers and local merchants will once again join forces to capture the spirit of the season in this picturesque small-town celebration. Stroll organizers will again provide the local merchant “Snowball Drop” which provides snow ball recipients to special doscounts and offers at local businesses.

    It’s a rare occasion when almost everyone gets to be a ‘winner’ and it’s just a lot of fun for the strollers and the retailers. Throughout the evening, local businesses and restaurants will offer refreshments and special discounts and giveaways. Additional children’s activities and crafts will be coordinated by East Lyme Youth Services.
