    Niantic Farmer's Market - Every Thursday Afternoon

    Come join the fun as Niantic Main Street hosts their 8th season of the Niantic Farmers' Market. The market features local vendors who fill the market space (i.e., Methodist St) as they do every year with an array of fresh and local produce, pies, breads, plants, herbs, greens, hummus, pork, jams, jellies, prepared foods, native wool, coffee, fresh-filled cannoli's and much, much more.
    The Niantic Farmers Market located on Methodist Street between Pro Tek Auto and Niantic Cinemas and will run every Thursday from 3 to 6:00 p.m. until October 12th.

    McCook Point Park - Summer Music Series Concert

    Come enjoy an evening of fun, relaxation and great music at this week’s McCook Point Park Summer Music concert. This week’s concert will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. at the new band shell atop of McCook’s Point Park (just behind the old pavilion). Attendees are encouraged to being chairs, blankets and are welcomed to bring a picnic dinner. Concerts are free and open to the public. This week’s concert on Friday, Aug. 18th will feature: Dixieland Heartbeat Jazz, and will be sponsored by the East Lyme Public Trust Foundation. Hope to see you there!

    McCook's Beach Summer Concert Series

    McCook's Beach Summer Concert Series is BACK for 2017!!!! These weekly concerts feature smaller, more local bands, and take place at/on McCooks Beach Wednesday nights from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm.
    So bring a picnic dinner, watch the sun set and enjoy some great tunes all while relaxing on the beach with family and friends. No beach pass is required after 5:00 PM to enter the park!
    Below is list of scheduled performers for the remainder of this year, but subject to change:
    August 23rd: Five Bean Row
    August 30th: Vincent DelGaudio

    Smith-Harris House - A Teddy Bear Tea

    Sunday, September 10
    1 pm to 3 pm
    $25 per adult/child pair, $10 each additional child
    Bring your favorite Teddy Bear to tea! Practice your manners at an afternoon tea with little sandwiches and sweets, make a teddy bear craft, and learn how the Teddy Bear became our most treasured toy! For children ages 4 to 8 years, and adults must accompany children; no drop-offs allowed. Space is limited, please be sure to register early.     4th Annual Black Sheep Oyster Festival

    Mark your calendars for the 4th Annual Black Sheep Oyster Festival. If you thought prior year's events were great, this year's event promises to be bigger and better. This relatively new end-of-summer Niantic event is sure to be another crowd pleaser with local Oyster Farmers onsite, Oyster Shucking Contest, Irish Step Dancers, Oyster inspired menu items, Guinness Pint Specials, Live Music, Prizes & Giveaways and a whole lot more. This year's Black Sheep Guinness Oyster Festival takes place on Saturday, September 23, 2017 beginning at 12:00 noon at The Black Sheep Irish Pub located at 247 Main St., Niantic.

    East Lyme - Bike & BBQ Event

    Come join the fun on Sunday, October 1st and help preserve our town's open spaces and historic places that are the foundation of East Lyme's beauty at the 2nd Annual East Lyme Bike & BBQ event.
    This event is geared toward recreational bike riders offering a spectacular ride along either a family friendly 9-mile historical house tour, 20 mile, 26 Mile, 62 mile, 85 mile, or 100 mile course. The family friendly course will take you to 3 historical houses around East Lyme: the Smith-Harris House, the Thomas Lee House and the Samuel Smith House.
    All courses will circle back to the Smith Harris House property where mouth-watering BBQ prepared by the Niantic Lions Club will be served to top off the day. Enjoy the live music and explore the sponsor tents as you savor your post-ride feast.

    Discover Victorian-Era rituals of death and dying at the Smith-Harris House! From 19th-century funeral traditions such as “widow’s weeds” and “safety coffins,” to the rise of the séance, learn how those who died were remembered and honored by loved ones. View the parlor decorated for a wake, see an actual 19th-century horse-drawn hearse, and have your tea leaves read, if you dare to peer into the future! Then, take a tour of the Old Burial Ground and encounter former residents of the Smith-Harris House, as they share vignettes of their former lives!     Smith-Harris House - Slightly-Creepy Tales & Trick or Trunk

    Come for the treats, stay for the tales--as part of the Town of East Lyme's "Trick or Trunk" Halloween program! The first floor of the Smith-Harris House will be lit by candlelight, while several slightly-creepy--not scary!--local and regional folktales are shared. Perfect for families with young children! The "Trick or Trunk" program, which occurs annually on the grounds of the Smith-Harris House, is a safe Halloween Trick-or-Treat alternative event sponsored by the East Lyme Youth Services Department of Parks & Recreation.     Sponsored by the East Lyme Police Cadets and Friends, the Walk of Horror will be featured at the Smith-Harris House! Come prepared to be scared—this walk is not for young children or the faint-of-heart! Admission is your choice to benefit local East Lyme community organizations: a non-perishable food item for East Lyme Care & Share; a pet supply donation for WRFD/EL Animal Control; or a cash donation to the Friends of Smith-Harris House.     Niantic Village Halloween Parade

    Come one, come all, to one of the most highly entertaining events in town ~ the annual Niantic Village Halloween Parade.
    The fun will start on Sunday, October 29th, 2017 beginning at 1:00 p.m., when children are welcome to browse the downtown shops for "Tricks and Treats".
    Among the parade's signature highlights is the always popular Halloween Parade which will begin at 2:00 p.m.. Children should gather at Hole-in-the-Wall beach parking lot (which is where the parade begins). Candy for the kids and costume prizes will be awarded.
    This event is sponsored by the East Lyme Parks & Rec Dept. along with promotional support of the Niantic Main Street organization and the downtown Niantic local businesses who donate candy and snacks for the children.     Come honor and remember our veterans at a Veterans Day Observance on Friday, November 10, 2017. Festivities will begin at 10:00 a.m. on the Liberty Green (downtown Niantic - corner of Main St. and Pennsylvania Ave.). In the event of rain, the vigil will move to the American Legion facility on York Ave.

    14th Annual Holiday Stroll

    Come kick-start your holiday season in Niantic at the 14th Annual Niantic Main Street Holiday Stroll. This family-friendly day features:
    - horse-drawn carriage rides,
    - shops & restaurant specials,
    - holiday music and complimentary hot cider and cocoa on the town green,
    - children's arts, crafts and games,
    - the 2nd Annual Chili Cook-off,
    - a Smore Station,
    - a "Snow-Flake Drop" featuring discounts and giveaways to local shops and restaurants, and last, but not least,
    - the arrival of Santa on a shiny red fire truck just in time for the annual Christmas Tree lighting ceremony beginning at 5:00 pm on Liberty Green in the heart of Niantic Village.
    So come early, and stay late. The fun takes place on Saturday, November 25th beginning at 3:00 p.m. .

    Come join the fun at the scenic McCook Point Beach and Park on Saturday, December 9th for a scenic, festive Niantic Jingle Bell 5K walk/run in support of the Brian T. Dagle Memorial Foundation.

    10:00 - 5K Walk & Run will begin
    11:00 - Overall & Age Group awards
    T-Shirts are available to the first 350 registrants - sizes are not guaranteed. Please arrive early to ensure you get the size you want.
