    Niantic Farmer's Market - Every Thursday from 3 to 6:30 p.m.

    Come join the fun as Niantic kicks off the 6th season of the Niantic Farmers' Market! Local vendors will fill the market space as they do every year with an array of fresh and local produce, pies, breads, plants, herbs, greens, hummus, pork, jams, jellies, prepared foods, native wool, coffee, fresh-filled cannoli's and much, much more.
    The Niantic Farmers Market is located on Methodist Street between Pro Tek Auto and Niantic Cinemas and will run every Thursday from 3 to 6:30 p.m. until October 8th.

    Explore History at the Smith-Harris House

    Monday, October 12th 12-4 pm, Free
    Looking for something fun to do on Columbus Day? Join the Smith-Harris House as we host family-friendly activities that explore history! Try your hand at painting a “mural,” make a hankie doll, and test your skill at “squash bowling,” “graces,” “hoop roll,” and other historic games played by children two centuries ago!     “Soup and Cider” Open House at Samuel Smith House

    Exciting activities are going on on Saturday, October 17. The Samuel Smith House will have one of their delicious “Soup and Cider” Open Houses. Soup, chowder and chili will be served from 11:30 to 3 PM in the barn. Cider, desserts, and country music will follow. Displays throughout the grounds as well as in the house will illustrate the use of early colonial tools and games. There will be “chores“ to try and use. A special black powder demonstration will be done by members of the Niantic Sportsmen’s Club. Samuel Smith’s neighbors will show and demonstrate early fire arms that were used by colonial people living in Niantic. There will be cooking in the old style as well as cooking out of doors displayed by folks from the East Lyme Historical Society and the Smith-Harris House. Wood cutting, using early saw methods as well as gardening tools will be available to see and try on the grounds. The Samuel Smith House is located at 82 Plants Dam Road.     Niantic Fire Dept. ~ Open House

    In honor of Fire Prevention Month, the Niantic Fire Department will once again host an Open House on Sunday, October 18th from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm at the Niantic Fire House (8 Grand St., Niantic). Come tour the Fire Department, climb into a fire truck and ambulance, and meet Niantic's Firefighters. The Open House will also feature a Smokehouse Simulator, Fire truck rides, Bicycle safety tips, Amber Alert info, equipment demonstrations, a car-seat clinic and free food. The Open House is free and open to the public. So, stop by for a fun filled day of fire trucks and safety.

    Niantic Village Halloween Parade

    Come one, come all, to one of the most highly entertaining events in town ~ the annual Niantic Village Halloween Parade.
    The parade will take place on Sunday, October 25, 2015 beginning at 1:00 p.m., when children are welcome to browse the downtown shops for "Tricks and Treats".
    Among the parade's signature highlights is the always popular Halloween Parade which will begin at 2:00 p.m.. Children should gather at Hole-in-the-Wall beach parking lot (which is where the parade begins). Candy for the kids and costume prizes will be awarded.
    This event is sponsored by the East Lyme Parks & Rec Dept. along with promotional support of the Niantic Main Street organization and the downtown Niantic local businesses who donate candy and snacks for the children.     Slightly-Creepy Folk Tales at the Smith-Harris House

    Come for the treats, stay for the tales--as part of the Town of East Lyme's "Trick or Trunk" Halloween program! The first floor of the Smith-Harris House will be lit by candlelight, while several spine-tingling local and regional folktales are shared. Perfect for families and those who enjoy folktales! The "Trick or Trunk" program, which occurs annually on the grounds of the Smith-Harris House, is a safe Halloween Trick-or-Treat alternative event sponsored by the East Lyme Youth Services Department of Parks & Recreation.     CMSECT Spooky Science Event

    Calling all witches, wizards, warlocks, goblins and ghouls! Join us for A Night at the Museum: Spooky Science. Have a gas watching our amazing dry ice science experiments such as our crystal ball and levitating bubbles, then help to make a tasty witches brew! Participate in spooktacular science demonstrations using our Van De Graaff generator, and join us for our slime workshop and potions class. Don’t forget to make your own wizard or witch wand to take home! You won’t want to miss this ghostly time!
    This event will take place on Friday, Oct. 30th, from 5:30-7:30 pm at the Children's Museum of Southeastern CT (409 Main Street, Niantic).

    Farm-to-Table Dinner at White Gate Farm

    Come experience great food and fun times at White Gate Farm located right here in East Lyme., CT. Farm-to-Table dinners are served in White Gate’s Farmhouse for up to 20 guests per evening and highlight what is in season from the farm and surrounding area.     Carelot PTO 8th Annual One Stop Holiday Shopping Event

    The Carelot PTO will present their 8th Annual One Stop Holiday Shopping, on Sunday, Nov. 8th, from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm at the East Lyme High School. Get all of your holiday shopping done in one stop by shopping from local crafters and small businesses....or treat yourself to some great treasures. Vendors from our area will be displaying their crafts and goodies including an assortment of knit apparel, Candles and fragrances, yummy treats, homemade craft items, wood crafts, children’s gifts and books, health and beauty and so much more. Festivities will begin at 10:00 a.m. on the Liberty Green (downtown Niantic - corner of Main St. and Pennsylvania Ave.). In the event of rain, the vigil will move to the American Legion facility on York Ave.

    12th Annual Holiday Stroll

    Come kick-start your holiday season in Niantic at the 12th Annual Niantic Main Street Holiday Stroll. This family-friendly day features horse-drawn carriage rides, professional holiday carolers strolling the quaint shop-lined streets of Niantic, complimentary hot cider and cocoa on the green, a "Snow-Flake Drop" featuring discounts and giveaways at local shops and restaurants, and last, but not least, the arrival of Santa on a shiny red fire truck just in time for a tree lighting ceremony beginning at 5:00 pm on Liberty Green in the heart of Niantic Village.
    The fun takes place on Saturday, November 28th from 3:00 – 7:00 pm.

    Children can bring their yearly letters and wish lists to Santa for bringing back to the North Pole, or they can stop in to the Children's Museum to craft their letter. Visits with Santa are free; parents are encouraged to bring a camera to capture the moment.

    The day also provides a great opportunity to begin your holiday shopping as many of the local businesses will be open offering holiday sales and discounts. So, come early and escape the big box malls and crowed parking lots and help support the small and local merchants who make shopping small ~ BIG!   Join us and support small business!
    Volunteers and local merchants will once again join forces to capture the spirit of the season in this picturesque small-town celebration. Stroll organizers will again provide the local merchant “Snowball Drop” which provides snow ball recipients to special doscounts and offers at local businesses.

    It’s a rare occasion when almost everyone gets to be a ‘winner’ and it’s just a lot of fun for the strollers and the retailers. Throughout the evening, local businesses and restaurants will offer refreshments and special discounts and giveaways. Additional children’s activities and crafts will be coordinated by East Lyme Youth Services.

    Celebrating its 27th anniversary in 2015, the Annual East Lyme / Niantic Light Parade is the largest holiday light parade in all of New England, and maybe one of the most unique events you will find anywhere.
