700 Tons of Bridge
DELIVERED ! ! !
A barge carrying 700 tons of steel parts for the new Niantic River Bridge arrived at the Niantic River Railroad Bridge early on Sunday (Feb. 5th) morning. The barge was carrying major steel components for the structure that will open the new railroad bridge, and is known as the lift span. Amtrak crews will have three days to unload the steel parts using large cranes currently positioned at the work site. The new $125 million railroad bridge is expected to be complete by May 2013.
